Frequently asked questions

How much does headlight restoration cost in Knoxville?

Beacon’s mobile headlight restoration starts at $99.99. The exact price depends on the vehicle, the size of the lenses and how heavily they’re oxidized. Text a photo of your headlights to (925) 332-8969 and you’ll get a firm quote before anything is scheduled.

How long does headlight restoration take?

About an hour for a pair of headlights on most vehicles. Heavily oxidized or very large lenses can take a little longer.

Do you come to my home or work?

Yes. Beacon is a 100% mobile service. We restore headlights in driveways, garages, workplace parking lots and apartment lots across Knoxville and East Tennessee.

What areas do you serve?

Knoxville and the surrounding area, including Farragut, Powell, Halls, Karns, Hardin Valley, Maryville, Alcoa, Oak Ridge, Clinton, Lenoir City, Seymour, Sevierville, Kodak and Strawberry Plains. See the full service area.

How long will my restored headlights stay clear?

We finish every restoration with a UV-protective coating that replaces the failed factory coat. That’s what makes a professional restoration last far longer than a polish or a DIY kit. Parking in a garage or shade, and avoiding harsh degreasers on the lenses, helps them stay clear even longer.

Is headlight restoration better than a DIY kit?

Usually, yes. DIY kits often skip sanding stages or use a weak protective layer, so the haze comes back quickly. Several of our customers tried store-bought kits first. A professional restoration uses multiple sanding grits, careful hand polishing and a proper UV coating for a clearer, longer-lasting result.

Should I restore or replace my headlights?

If the haze is on the outside of the lens and the housing isn’t cracked or full of moisture, restoration is almost always the better value. Replacement makes sense when the housing is broken, when there is condensation or damage inside the sealed headlight, or when the reflector has burned out. Read our full comparison.

Can you fix moisture or fog inside the headlight?

No. Restoration treats the outside of the lens. Moisture inside a sealed headlight usually comes from a failed seal or vent and needs a repair or a new assembly. Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly what we see.

Does restoration really make headlights brighter?

Yes. The bulb isn’t the problem on most cloudy headlights; the lens is blocking and scattering the light. AAA research found that severely clouded lenses can cut light output by up to 80%, and that restoring them recovers much of that light.

Will restoration damage my paint?

No. We tape off the paint, bumper and trim around each headlight before any sanding or polishing begins.

Do you restore trucks, SUVs and multiple vehicles?

Yes. We restore cars, trucks, SUVs, minivans and sports cars, and we’re happy to do several vehicles in one visit for families, dealers and small business fleets.

How do I book?

Text or call (925) 332-8969, or send us a message. A photo of your headlights and the address where the car will be parked is all we need to quote and schedule. Next-day appointments are often available.
